Tomb of Pharoah Seti I

Tomb of Pharoah Seti I

The tomb of Seti I was not only the most amazing tomb I visited in the Valley of the Kings, it’s one of the most incredible things I’ve ever seen. When I asked many Egyptians which tomb was their favorite, most said Nefertari, which was also super impressive and colorful. But Seti I’s tomb was not only beautifully painted, it was grand. He was considered to be the height of Egyptian art. His son, Ramses II who ruled for 67 years, was known more for flash than quality, erecting gigantic statues of himself throughout all of Egypt.

I visited the tomb twice, the cost was 1,000 EP, which is relatively expensive to add-on compared to viewing the other open tombs. It’s meant to deter too many visitors and it seems successful at that.

There was only one visitor, an Australian guy the first time I visited and the second time I was the only one. It seems like the greater majority of people that come with their tour groups skip this tomb which is a shame cause if you only had to see one tomb, this is the one to see!
